Man charged in car-train collision faces wrongful-death lawsuit

OSHKOSH, Wis. (WBAY) - Online court records show a wrongful death lawsuit is filed against an Oshkosh man accused of causing the deaths of two women last month.

Action 2 News is working to get a copy of the lawsuit.

Prosecutors say Shawn Schettle, 47, was driving drunk when he collided with a train in Oshkosh on December 22. Two women were found dead in the back seat -- Emily Mueller, 37, and Jessica Roby, 43.

Schettle was later found at a nearby home. He's charged with six counts, including homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, hit-and-run resulting in death, and operating a vehicle while suspended causing death.

His next court date in the criminal case is January 25.
