MANITOWOC, Wis (WBAY) -- The SWAT team had a house in Manitowoc surrounded after a 48-year-old man with a firearm barricaded himself in the basement on Saturday.
The Manitowoc Police Department says the incident happened at the 1000 block of S. 16th Street at 1:42 p.m.
Authorities initially received a 911 text message saying a man was pointing a handgun at a female in the south side home.
Police say the suspect had felony and misdemeanor warrants.
Authorities say they arrived at the home as the victims were coming out of the house.
Due to the possibility of the suspect having a firearm, the Manitowoc Police Department requested help from the Special Operation Squad.
After continuous efforts to make phone contact with the suspect failed, officers were able to make verbal contact.
The man was ordered out of the home and taken into custody for the outstanding warrants.
Several roads around the home were blocked off to traffic as authorities respond to the situation.
The Manitowoc Police Department, Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office, and the Manitowoc Fire Department are all on scene.
The incident is still under investigation.
