Kangaroo gets loose in Kenosha County

Kenosha County Sheriff's Office

KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - It's not every day you get to report on a loose kangaroo in Wisconsin.

On Thursday, at 7:14 a.m., the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a loose kangaroo in the 7500 block of 18th Street in Somers. Somers is a community located northwest of Kenosha.

The kangaroo had escaped from Jerry Smith's Farm by kicking open its gate. "The kangaroo decided to wander west on 18th Street," says a statement from the Sheriff's Office.

The farm was contacted and five-year-old Joey was returned safely to its home.

No one was hurt.
