High schools in a culinary throwdown

GRAND CHUTE, Wis. (WBAY) - Kids from 18 high schools cooked up some competition Friday in the fourth annual Culinary High School Throwdown.

Food on judging table

The competition was hosted at Fox Valley Technical College.

Kids had to make two chicken entrees in one hour and serve them to judges. They were judged not only for how the food tastes or looks but how they operated in the kitchen.

"In our fourth year here, I can say that from the first three years we did it, we did see students each year that have come into our culinary program and have excelled here at Fox Valley Tech," RC Schroeder, FVTC's Culinary Arts and Hospitality department chair said.
