MENASHA, Wis. (WBAY) - Governor Scott Walker visited Menasha on Thursday to announce a proposal to eliminate long wait times for children with disabilities who need assistance.
The proposal includes a nearly $40 million investment over the next two years, which is included in his budget plan.
The governor says the idea is something that should set Wisconsin apart from most other states.
"That's about 2,200 children who will benefit from this, and obviously all the families and caregivers and support systems along with that. That will make us just one of 10 states in the nation that has absolutely no wait list, and so we're thrilled to do that," Walker said.
