GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) -- About 100 kids had the chance to go fishing on Saturday as part of the Fish for Kids event.
This year, the organization teamed up with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Wisconsin.
Fish for Kids is a nonprofit organization which has been teaching kids the basics of fishing for the past 15 years.
"Getting that kid the first fish they have ever caught in their life, they are totally hooked. They are ready to go fishing later that day, they're ready to fishing later that week, they just want to fish more," said Tony Gabel, Founder of Fish for Kids.
"The kids in our program were so excited to do something like this. We typically can't do something this large because of our small staff, so to be able to collaborate with another non-profit was just a perfect match," said Katie Hess, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Wisconsin.
Since it was established, Fish for Kids has helped about 2,000 kids across northeast Wisconsin learn to fish.
