OUTAGAMIE COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - A man whose threats prompted the evacuation of the Fox River Mall has pleaded no contest to the charges against him.
Christopher Hawkins, 28, entered the pleas Wednesday during a hearing in Outagamie County Court.
Hawkins is charged with Making Terrorist Threats and Disorderly Conduct for the Dec. 27, 2016, incident. A no contest plea means he neither admits his guilt or disputes it, but accepts the recommended punishment.
Prosecutors say Hawkins made threats about shooting up the mall and an Appleton hotel following a fight with his girlfriend.
Family members called police Dec. 27, saying Hawkins was in the mall parking lot with a gun and making threats.
Police evacuated the mall but did not find Hawkins.
He was arrested the next day in Minneapolis.
Hawkins will be sentenced during a hearing on Jan. 5.
