First area Meijer store opens its doors

Howard, Wis. (WBAY) – A growing chain of Midwest stores opened its doors Tuesday in Northeast Wisconsin.

The new 24-hour Meijer is on Shawano Avenue off of I-41 in Howard.

This new location is one of three opening in Wisconsin this year and another is opening in West Bend today too. The third location will be in the Milwaukee area.

“We are very pleased to provide our new Howard and Green Bay neighbors the service, selection, quality, and low prices that Meijer customers in the other communities have come to expect, “ said Executive Chairman Hank Meijer.

The store helped bring over 300 new jobs to the area. It has a grocery section, clothing, and a full service pharmacy.

The opening day on Tuesday also included a $25,000 donation to the Northeastern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial.

As part of its grand opening celebration on May 18th, the Howard Meijer location will give the first 200 customers a mystery amount gift card. That starts at 6 a.m.
