Authorities identify victim of Winnebago County fatal crash

WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - Authorities have identified a man killed in a crash on Highway 44 in Winnebago County on Friday morning.

The Sheriff's Office says 22-year-old Zachary Guyant of Ripon was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash happened about 5:30 a.m. Friday, on Highway 44, at County Road FF. That's between Oshkosh and Ripon.

The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office says Guyant's pickup truck was traveling south when it crossed the center line and hit a northbound semi trailer head on.

The driver of the semi, 58-year-old Steven Plantz, suffered minor injuries.

Highway 44 was closed all of Friday morning while firefighters cleaned up spilled diesel and investigators reconstructed the crash. The road re-opened to traffic at 1:33 p.m.

The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Utica Fire, and Oshkosh Fire.

The crash remains under investigation.
