Expect noise during military flight training exercise

CAMP DOUGLAS, Wis. (WBAY) - Military members are taking part in flight training and they're informing the public about increased noise levels.

The Northern Lightning Counterland training exercise is May 14-25, at Volk Field.

It's joint training with the Air Force, National Guard and Navy.

"Pilots will practice completing specific missions in a contested environment to include adversary aircraft, electronic jamming, and simulated ground based threats," says Col David May, commander of Volk Field CRTC.

Training will involve the F-16 Fighting Falcon, T-38 Talon, KC-135 Stratotanker and E-2C Hawkeye.

The Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs says people in some counties will experience increased noise levels from 10 a.m. - noon on training days.

Counties include: Brown, Calumet, Dodge, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Outagamie, Sheboygan, Waupaca and Winnebago.
