OSHKOSH, Wis. (WBAY) - Attendance was up at 2017's EAA AirVenture.

Attendance was about 590,000, up five percent from 2016. The annual aviation celebration at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh was held July 21-30.

EAA Chairman Jack Pelton says events like the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, the Apollo reunion, the B-29s, and beautiful weather combined for an "excellent week."

"The aviators and enthusiasts who attended were engaged, eager, and passionate, demonstrating how Oshkosh is the best example of why general aviation is so vitally important to the country. I believe it’s the best AirVenture week that I’ve ever seen," Pelton says.
