RIPON, Wis. (WBAY) - Officials are reminding you to wear a life jacket if you're out on the water this weekend and as the temperatures continue to stay warm.
There were multiple drownings on Wisconsin lakes since Friday.
Saturday night rescue crews pulled a man to shore on Big Green Lake just west of Ripon in Green Lake County. The coroner's office says the man died there where the water was more than a hundred feet deep. Authorities are have not yet released his name.
Also, on Whitewater Lake between Madison and Milwaukee, emergency crews found a 19-year-old who went underwater while not wearing a life jacket. Officials said he had been swimming and trying get a personal watercraft from the lake but began to struggle. It took rescue crews more than three hours to find him.
Recreation officials with the DNR say even if you're an experienced swimmer you should always take safety precautions.
