MENASHA, Wis. (WBAY) - The founder of Christ the Rock Community Church in Menasha took his life Monday.

The church announced in a statement on Facebook that Bill Lenz died Tuesday afternoon after months of working through depression with a counselor, doctor and friends.

"Depression eventually claimed his life on earth. But that is not his legacy," the statement says.

Lenz was a Christian minister for 35 years, founding the non-denominational church in the Fox Cities. Action 2 News has reported on its missions in Haiti, hurricane relief in Texas and New Orleans, and the annual holiday dinners the church sponsors. The church also offers a food pantry, and support groups for grief, divorce and abuse.

Christ the Rock Church says in its statement, "We remember him as a man with an immense heart for the lost and the hurting, who loved God and lived to serve Him and others.... We are left with many questions and deep sorrow for our dear pastor, leader, brother and friend. Please pray for his family and our church family."
