Basement fire causes $50,000 damage in Green Bay

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - The Red Cross is helping a family in Green Bay after a morning fire.

Green Bay Metro firefighters responded to a home on Heyrman Street on the city's east side around 6:45 Thursday morning.

Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from a basement window.

The fire was quickly knocked out, and the majority of the damage was contained to the basement.

The fire caused an estimated $50,000 in damage.

No one was hurt.
