GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Last week we told you about a group of local mothers trying to pull off a Christmas miracle for families in need.
Tuesday night was the "Bad Moms Do Christmas" party, a name playing on the title of a popular movie.
Families crowded into Darjune Cafe starting at 5:30 for a free party with family photos, Santa and Mrs. Claus, mommy-daughter makeovers, and other holiday fun.
The idea started when a group of women who met through a mom's group on Facebook began talking about ways to help families in need at Christmas.
It quickly evolved into a big event for families in shelters or who may just be settling into new homes or jobs and don't have enough to cover the extra expenses over the holidays.
"We didn't anticipate this many people coming, so we're really excited about it," Holly Robbins, one of the coordinators, said.
"The community has been amazing, so we really-- just beyond amazing what they've pulled together in two weeks. We couldn't have done it without Green Bay and the surrounding area, so we're really grateful for that," Robbins continued.
