Authorities identify man found in Sheboygan River

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WBAY) – UPDATE: 3/21/2017:

The Sheboygan Police Department has identified a man found in the Sheboygan River as Melvin J. Krause.

The Medical Examiner's Office ruled the death a suicide, saying Krause drowned.

The Sheboygan Police Department says it has recovered the body of a man found in the Sheboygan River.

Right now details are limited, but police say the incident does not appear to be suspicious and there is no danger to the community.

Officials say the body was found floating in the water and that officers were called to the scene just after 8:30 Sunday morning at the 700 block of Riverfront Drive near the boardwalk downtown.

Police say a dive team recovered the body and the Medical Examiner’s Office has been notified. All officials can say at this time is that is that the body is that of a Caucasian man.

The name won't be released until family is notified.
