APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) -- The Appleton area Jaycees are putting on a 4th of July celebration Monday night.
People are already gathered at Appleton Memorial Park.
The non-profit young professional group is in its 80th year of doing fireworks.
The fireworks lasted about 30 minutes, and cost about $27,000.
"Every year we just switch up the effects, you just layer the sky with bigger shells over smaller shells to give it a crowd appealing effect," said Steve Norby of Spielbaur Fireworks Company.
There are also several other activities to enjoy before the firework show such as live music and plenty of food vendors.
The event is made possible thanks to donations from festival and Nicolet bank.
Proceeds from any food sold goes toward other events hosted by the Jaycees.
" [We] raise money for our annual Christmas shopping event that we hold in December, which allows us to bring in about 100 kids and 100 families and they go shopping with us and we shop with them to instill that gift of giving," said Amber Szekeres, Fireworks co-chair.
