APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) - The streets of downtown Appleton filled up with the holiday spirit Tuesday night for the annual night-time Christmas parade.

More than 20 bands and dozens of floats were part of the festive event down College Avenue.

This year's theme was Peace, Joy and Harmony.

"It's a great time. It brings a lot of people downtown. The windows are decorated, a lot of the stores get into it, everybody's ready for the holiday season, and it's just a perfect night to come downtown and watch the parade," Appleton Downtown Inc. event coordinator Djuanna Hugdahl said.

This marks the 47th year of the parade, which is often billed as the largest night-time Christmas parade in the upper Midwest.

We don't have a crowd estimate yet, but last year's parade drew about 80,000 spectators.
