MADISON, Wis. (AP) - A legislative committee will consider a bill that would allow the governor to try to block the Wisconsin National Guard's federal call-ups.
The Democratic-authored bill would require the governor to review every federal order that places the state National Guard on active duty to determine if the order is lawful. If the governor decides the order isn't valid, he or she could sue in state or federal court to block the order.
The Assembly Committee on Veterans and Military Affairs is set to hold a public hearing on the bill Tuesday afternoon.
